Silonn SLIM57 Review: Trusted Review by Technician in 2026

The Silonn SLIM57, just like the Silonn SLIM58 and Silonn SLIM53, is designed to bring the fancy gourmet ice into budget segment. So what is the reason you should buy the Silonn SLIM57 instead of the more expensive SLIM58. Let’s figure out, in this Silonn SLIM57 review.

In Ice Artisan, I only review the ice makers that I had used or repaired. So I can guarantee that:

  • I give you honest review (both pros and cons) of an ice maker. No hidden deal behind the website.
  • I share my technician’s point of view, so I focus not only on the performance, but also the build of an ice maker.
  • I compile an ice maker ranking list (coming soon) so you can compare all ice makers easily.

PROS

  • Has self-cleaning feature
  • Gourmet ice
  • Looks modern

CONS

  • Not good durability

Silonn is a Hong Kong-based home appliance brand operating under the Sealoon Group, founded to bring compact, affordable ice-making technology to the countertop market. The company launched its first bullet ice makers in the early 2020s and has steadily expanded into premium categories, with the Silonn SLIM57 representing its boldest move yet: a fully automated clear sphere ice machine designed squarely at the home bar enthusiast.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Price

  • Available to buy now
  • Costs $349 in the U.S market

The Silonn SLIM57 is the most forward-thinking sphere ice maker of 2026, finally delivering on the promise of automated clear ice at home, and instantly proving a real head-turner on the kitchen counter. And yet, it’s still not something I can recommend to most people.

The reason is simple, the price of the Silonn SLIM57 is a bit higher than a common countertop ice maker, at $349. Good news is, unlike the Silonn SLIM58, you can easily find a better deal on Ice Artisan, making the Silonn SLIM57 the most affordable gourmet ice maker you can buy in the world.

Wherever we placed the Silonn SLIM57, guests wanted to know what this thing was and how it worked. We demonstrated how it freezes clear 2-inch spheres using its dual-stage CrystalSphere system, and how four perfectly round balls drop into the tray in just 35 minutes – and it always amazed.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Durability

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Design

  • Front control board
  • New design
  • More modern than the Silonn SLIM54

The arrival of the Silonn SLIM57 gives you the opportunity to own one of the most satisfying clear ice experiences outside a professional bar setting, with a sphere-first design that just makes sense – if the CrystalSphere freeze technology holds up.

You’re looking at a wide, low-profile stainless steel cabinet that marries a brushed metal exterior with a hinged tray door up front and a transparent water reservoir panel at the rear. Unlike the Frigidaire EFIC240, which uses a fully sealed grey plastic body, the Silonn SLIM57 uses a predominantly stainless steel shell that looks considerably more serious on a home bar cart.

The key to the Silonn SLIM57’s design is its dual-stage freeze process, a configuration that Silonn claims prevents air and mineral migration to the core. Whereas the ice quality can vary on warmer days, the mechanical design of the chassis feels like it has been thoughtfully engineered around the sphere-making process specifically.

Opening the front tray door feels clean and deliberate, and closing it ends with a satisfying firm click, like you’ve just closed a well-made appliance. Remember what it was like to open a premium cocktail shaker? That feeling is here – only now, you’ll probably load one of those four spheres straight into a Glencairn.

Also returning is appliance heft. In its countertop state, the Silonn SLIM57 is 17.7 inches deep and weighs considerably more than a standard bullet maker; for comparison, the compact Frigidaire EFIC237 ice maker is just 9.5 inches deep and weighs around 11 lbs.

However, it’s narrower across the counter than you might think at 17.5 inches wide, and despite its depth it fits comfortably against a kitchen splashback (although those with minimal counter depth will likely struggle) – it even fits into bar cabinet niches that other sphere machines cannot reach, although there’s no escaping the fact that it’ll dominate wherever it lives.

It is imposing in aesthetic, and it feels seriously committed in its footprint. It’s not exactly what many would call subtle, and its size will likely give a number of people pause — the width and depth tended to be the first comments from those I introduced the Silonn SLIM57 to.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Build

  • Silonn has decent durability

Fully operational on the counter, it’s a much more considered design than you might expect from a brand known for budget bullet machines. The Silonn SLIM57 gives me the same feeling as the Silonn SLIM58 – great design, but it’s a bit lighter to be sturdy.

And you still stay with the 1-year warranty for this expensive countertop ice maker. So make sure you can add extra protection on Amazon.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Performance

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Capacity

  • Produces up to 144 pieces per day (22 lbs per day)
  • Internal storage: 3 lbs

The Silonn SLIM57 isn’t going to outpace the production rate of commercial clear-ice machines, as if this were a specced-out bar installation at an absurd price. You’re paying for the sphere innovation, not the raw throughput.

Yes, Silonn could have opted to include a larger internal water reservoir, but it stuck with the configuration announced at launch. More importantly, those 144 daily spheres give it a high yield when you have guests gathering — nothing to phone home about for a commercial bar, but it’s more than enough for a household of whiskey and cocktail drinkers.

It earned a batch time of 4 spheres in 35 minutes in my hands-on timing tests, with only the ecozy ClearCore model earning noticeably faster marks at 38 minutes per 4 balls. Similarly, the Rellytech sphere maker sits at the same 35-minute mark – the Silonn SLIM57 isn’t trailing the pack, it’s running with it.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Ice Quality

  • Gourmet ice
  • High clarity

If you’re looking for the best clarity in a countertop sphere ice maker at this price, you should seriously consider the Silonn SLIM57. I mean this is repeated for many times, but Silonn is making the best ice at the moment.

All identical to a typical sphere mold, right? Not exactly. While the freeze geometry is broadly similar to competing machines, both the injector system and the CrystalSphere process behind it offer better mineral displacement, thanks to controlled directional freeze progression.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Energy and Water Consumption

  • Normal water and energy consumption

I wrote an article of “How much electricity does an ice maker use?” to give you a free calculator to find out whether you are spending more on your ice maker or not. We have an estimated draw of approximately 130W during the active freeze cycle for the Silonn SLIM57, so it’s quite good at energy saving.

Water consumption is similarly measured: each 35-minute batch uses approximately 0.4-0.5 liters for 4 spheres, which works out to efficient use per sphere compared to manual clear-ice mold methods that waste significant water during freezer-tray freezing.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Noise Level

  • Not quiet operation

The Silonn SLIM57’s compressor produces a steady low hum – roughly 45dB during continuous operation, similar to a running refrigerator – which sits comfortably in the background of kitchen or bar-cart use without demanding attention.

The more memorable sound is the sphere-drop: when each batch of four completes, the balls release into the tray with a firm, satisfying thud that you’ll notice from the next room.

Silonn SLIM57 Review: Features

  • Has self-cleaning feature
  • Add water alert, ice full notification

The Silonn SLIM57 takes a straightforward LED control panel and makes it a little more focused, yet manages to keep everything intuitive for first-time users. It has a logically positioned water indicator, and an ice-full alert that stops production automatically to prevent overflow. Self-cleaning mode is accessible with a long press, which is everywhere in this category now, and the Silonn SLIM57’s implementation is clean and simple.

To be fair, the included accessories are practical: a stainless sphere scoop and a removable drip tray. Still though, for a machine in this price tier, the absence of a water line connection is a noticeable omission for anyone who wants truly continuous hands-free operation.

Verdict

The Silonn SLIM57 delivers a sphere clarity and speed combination that few machines at this price can match, and yet we’d only fully recommend it to home bar enthusiasts with a whiskey or cocktail habit and a counter space they can commit to.
