Silonn SLIM31 Review: Trusted Review by Technician in 2026

The Silonn SLIM31 is a decent countertop clear ice maker, which is intended to compete against the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS and the Euhomy IM-FP. It is an old product, as you can look for the Silonn SLIM53 and Silonn SLIM54 for serious clear ice options. However, I recommend to read the Silonn SLIM31 review first.

In Ice Artisan, I only review the ice makers that I had used or repaired. So I can guarantee that:

  • I give you honest review (both pros and cons) of an ice maker. No hidden deal behind the website.
  • I share my technician’s point of view, so I focus not only on the performance, but also the build of an ice maker.
  • I compile an ice maker ranking list (coming soon) so you can compare all ice makers easily.

PROS

  • Has self-cleaning feature
  • Cheaper pricing

CONS

  • Not the newest
  • Ice quality not clear

Silonn turned heads with its budget-friendly countertop ice makers that rapidly captured Amazon’s attention. The brand offers fast ice production and sleek designs, but comes from a relatively young Chinese manufacturer still building its reputation.itchen appliances.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Price

  • Available to buy now
  • Costs $159 in the U.S market

Knowing the fact that the sub-$200 price category is one of the hottest in the countertop ice maker market, Silonn introduced an affordable cubed ice maker under the Silonn SLIM31 series in this price segment.

Priced at $159.99, the Silonn SLIM31 features decent specifications and will compete with the myriad of Chinese and domestic ice makers that come at an affordable price. I got the Silonn SLIM31 for review and this ice maker seems to be a value for money deal. So, let’s dig deep and find out whether the ice maker is a threat to NewAir’s and Frigidaire’s reign or not.

It isn’t the perfect clear ice maker, as it doesn’t have the same ice quality as its newer brothers – the Silonn SLIM53 and Silonn SLIM54.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Design

The Silonn SLIM31 is built on the same design philosophy of Silonn’s earlier countertop models such as the Silonn SLIM01, Silonn SLIM09, and a number of bullet ice makers.

The modern design is quite appealing, with clean lines and a stainless steel finish that integrates well into most kitchen settings. You cannot remove any panels to access internal components – the sealed construction keeps the compressor and cooling system protected.

The matte stainless steel exterior not only prevents fingerprint smudges, but feels premium in hands as well. The chrome-effect trim around the control panel adds visual interest, but doesn’t feel cheap like some budget competitors.

The LED touch panel sits at the front top, housing the power controls, ice thickness adjustment, and cleaning mode buttons. The angled flip-top cover is positioned for easy ice access and level monitoring. The buttons are well-positioned and the compact footprint of the Silonn SLIM31 gives it practical kitchen placement – it fits comfortably on most countertops without dominating the space.

At 13.78″ x 9.53″ x 14.57″, the Silonn SLIM31 occupies moderate counter real estate. Your hand can reach the ice basket easily through the flip-top, making it quite comfortable to scoop ice even when the bin is nearly empty.

The Silonn SLIM31’s closest rivals are the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS and the NewAir ClearIce40. They all share nearly the same design, and as you can read in my other reviews, the ice quality is similar too.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Build

  • Silonn has decent durability

The Silonn SLIM31 combines a stainless steel outer shell with ABS plastic internal components. The exterior steel provides durability and scratch resistance, while the food-grade plastic interior keeps the unit lightweight enough when you need to move the ice maker.

The panel fits are reasonably tight, with no obvious gaps or misalignments that might indicate manufacturing shortcuts. The water reservoir and ice basket feature smooth edges and secure seating positions.

For me, the durability of old Silonn ice makers isn’t something I like. It is a tier below Euhomy, and Euhomy is about 2 tiers below Frigidaire.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Performance

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Capacity

  • Produces up to 44 lbs of ice daily
  • Internal storage: 2 lbs

In terms of production speed, the Silonn SLIM31 produces 24 ice cubes in approximately 13 minutes for thin ice, extending to 20 minutes for thick cubes. This translates to roughly 110 ice cubes per hour under optimal conditions.

The dual water filling system – supporting both manual reservoir filling and top-mounted bottle connection – proves genuinely useful during parties when attention might be elsewhere. Silonn has also added an infrared sensor that automatically pauses production when the bin fills, which is basically a tool to prevent overflow and ensure ice quality.

All in all, I found that the capacity on the Silonn SLIM31 is good, feels well-matched to household needs, and doesn’t make the ice maker feel inadequate for entertaining. New Silonn clear ice makers have better ice quality and clarity, but at the cost of quick ice production.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Ice Quality

  • Clear ice
  • Not as clear as newer Silonn models

Considering the price tag, crystal-clear cubed ice would have been a premium feature if we were in 2020. But in 2026, affordable clear ice production is becoming more common, and Silonn has managed to deliver decent clarity. If you compare the Silonn SLIM31 with the NewAir ClearIce40, it is a bit more cloudy, but the difference is negligible.

The adjustable thickness settings provide customization through three levels: thin (13 minutes), medium (15 minutes), and thick (20 minutes). I found the medium setting produces cubes most similar to commercial ice machines, with good density and satisfying weight. The thick setting delivers substantial cubes that genuinely rival bar-quality ice for cocktail applications.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Energy and Water Consumption

  • Normal water and energy consumption

I wrote an article of “How much electricity does an ice maker use?” to give you a free calculator to find out whether you are spending more on your ice maker or not. The Silonn SLIM31 operates on a standard 120V/60Hz outlet drawing approximately 2.5 amps during active cycles. The R600a refrigerant provides efficient cooling with lower environmental impact than older refrigerants.

To calculate per 100 lbs of ice: assuming 165W average over production cycles, that’s approximately 7.5 kWh per 100 lbs – comparable to other countertop cubed ice makers.

Water consumption averages approximately 7 gallons per 44 lbs of ice produced, accounting for evaporative loss. This is way within typical ranges for countertop ice makers and represents reasonable efficiency.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Noise Level

  • Quiet operation

The Silonn SLIM31 produces operational noise from its compressor, water pump, and ice harvesting mechanism that combine into a noticeable ambient presence. Based on comparable ice makers and user reports, operational noise likely ranges from 55-58 dB measured at 1 meter distance.

This sits between a quiet conversation (40 dB) and a running dishwasher (55-65 dB). The Silonn SLIM31 runs noticeably louder than a typical refrigerator’s 38-43 dB hum, but quieter than an air conditioner.

Silonn SLIM31 Review: Features

  • Has self-cleaning feature
  • Add water alert, ice full notification

The Silonn SLIM31 utilizes LED touch controls and automatic sensors on the feature side of things. Unlike the basic button layouts on Frigidaire budget models, the one on the Silonn SLIM31 feels refined and intuitive in terms of design and usability.

I did not come across major responsive issues with the controls. On the whole, I was satisfied with the way things operate with the touch panel.

The self-cleaning function activates with a button press, initiating a 20-minute cleaning cycle. Silonn has also added adjustable ice thickness with three settings, which is basically a feature to customize ice for different applications – thin for smoothies, thick for cocktails.

Verdict

The Silonn SLIM31 is superseded by the Silonn SLIM53, so I don’t think you should buy this ice maker, unless you really like its design.
