Euhomy IM-FM Review: Trusted Review by Technician in 2025

The Euhomy IM-FM doesn’t follow the same Euhomy IM-FP‘s core, instead it improves water filling method in the same way the famous GE Profile Opal 2.0? Does it work, especially in the budget segment? Let’s find out in our Euhomy IM-FM review.

In Ice Artisan, I only review the ice makers that I had used or repaired. So I can guarantee that:

  • I give you honest review (both pros and cons) of an ice maker. No hidden deal behind the website.
  • I share my technician’s point of view, so I focus not only on the performance, but also the build of an ice maker.
  • I compile an ice maker ranking list (coming soon) so you can compare all ice makers easily.

Euhomy IM-FM Review

PROS

  • Affordable clear ice
  • Has self-cleaning feature

CONS

  • Durability
  • Ice melts faster

Euhomy is dominating the U.S market with affordable yet quality ice makers, from the budget countertop to the commercial undercounter ice machines. The Euhomy IM-FM is their latest attempt at the countertop clear ice maker segment, which is left uncontested for the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Price

  • Available to buy now
  • Costs $149 in the U.S market
  • Has 2 color options

Just after months of releasing the Euhomy IM-F and Euhomy IM-FP, the Chinese manufacturer is coming up with the idea of the Euhomy IM-FM, notably the compact GE Profile Opal 2.0, with an addition of a 1.5-liter water tank. The ice maker is meant to be smaller, but you don’t need to constantly refill water.

The idea is good, it is suitable for busy (or lazy) users who only want to take ices conveniently. The Euhomy IM-FM costs even less than the original Euhomy IM-FP, to only $149 for the package of both Euhomy countertop ice maker and a water tank.

The Euhomy IM-FP isn’t Euhomy’s cheapest ice maker, that title goes to the Euhomy IM-06, which has become the standard for budget countertop models. However, paying a bit more for the Euhomy IM-FP means you’re stepping into a more premium ice experience, something that can truly elevate your drinks. Compared to other clear ice makers on the market, like the NewAir ClearIce40 or the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS, the Euhomy IM-FP clearly stands out as the most affordable option.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Design

  • Use front control board
  • Has steel texture in its finish
  • Has an additional water tank
  • Comes with 2 color options: black and silver

Euhomy doesn’t stray far from the original concept of a countertop clear ice maker, following a design similar to the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS. However, the Chinese company cleverly adds a top-mounted water tank, eliminating the need to constantly buy bottled water, something users of the older Euhomy IM-F and Euhomy IM-FP models had to deal with.

Measuring 11.89″ deep x 8.74″ wide x 15.83″ high, this takes up more counter space than the typical 9″ x 12″ footprint of most 26-pound makers. The external water tank adds another 4 inches when attached. Weight comes in at a reasonable 19.5 pounds empty.

It provides two color options, meaning Euhomy is seeing the potential market share in selling countertop clear ice makers, as the previous models came with only one color option. My testing unit is a black one, but you can buy the silver option easily below.

Euhomy IM-FM Review

The Euhomy IM-FM not only looks good as a modern kitchen appliance, but it also feels sturdy and more durable than the previous Euhomy IM-F, even though it’s made entirely of plastic. At $149, it’s definitely worth the price, and I choose it over other budget Euhomy ice makers every time. The black finish resists fingerprints well, which gives the ice maker a more premium appearance.

Being a kitchen appliance, the Euhomy IM-FM improves with a smaller-scale LED display than other countertop ice makers on the market. It’s being more like the Euhomy IM-12, and I prefer this control board for its simplicity.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Build

  • Euhomy has decent durability

The Euhomy IM-FM looks good and feels solid in my testing, and Euhomy has built a reputation for offering decent durability for the price. Their customer service is responsive and handles issues quickly, often resolving problems in a way that leaves customers satisfied.

As a technician, I know that the Euhomy IM-FM is still at least one level behind Igloo, and perhaps two levels behind the Frigidaire for the durability. There must be a reason that Igloo stops producing more countertop clear ice makers: too many failure points possible, in comparison with a simple bullet ice maker.

When it comes to customer reviews, the Euhomy IM-FM is generally rated as good, not great, but not bad either. However, when complaints do appear, they’re usually about the unit’s durability.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Performance

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Capacity

  • Produces up to 35 lbs of ice daily
  • Internal storage: 1.8 lbs

To make the Euhomy IM-FM more compact, Euhomy decides it would have smaller ice mold, and deliver only 16 cubic pieces at a time. The daily capacity reduces to only 34 pounds, and the internal storage of the Euhomy IM-FM is just 1.8 pounds, in comparison with 2.2 pounds in the Euhomy IM-FP.

For the speed, the Euhomy IM-FM is impressively quick, consistently produces one batch of clear ice in just 13-14 minutes. It takes longer than a typical bullet ice maker, but you will have more pieces. Problem is, you need to break the big mass of ices apart to get clear cubes.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Ice Quality

  • Clear ice
  • Clarity is decent, melt a bit faster

You’re looking at a clear ice maker, so ice quality is a key factor. Euhomy’s clear ice is decent, but in my experience, the clarity falls short of the perfection you’d get from a high-end commercial machine. If ultimate clarity is what you’re after, True Cubes can deliver much better results for less money, though it does take significantly more time.

Euhomy IM-FM Review

Strangely, many people don’t realize that a countertop clear ice maker doesn’t break the ice apart for you. Manually separating the cubes isn’t too difficult, but it can be tricky to get perfectly shaped cubes every time.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Energy and Water Consumption

  • Normal water and energy consumption

I wrote an article of “How much electricity does an ice maker use?” to give you a free calculator to find out whether you are spending more on your ice maker or not. At 143 watts, the Euhomy IM-FM consumes approximately 10 kWh to produce 100 pounds of ice.

For water consumption, I again remind you what I wrote in my article “Does an ice maker use a lot of water?” The Euhomy IM-FM has an average water consumption, using 12-15 gallons to produce 100 pounds of ice.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Noise Level

  • Produces noise after months of using

Euhomy claims the IM-FM operates at “less than 42 dB,” but my sound meter consistently measured around 45 dB. To give you an idea, that’s quieter than a modern dishwasher (typically 46 dB), yet still a bit louder than the quiet of a library (about 40 dB).

There appear to be many negative reviews about the noise this ice maker makes during operation. In most cases, I believe people are referring to the sound of ice dropping, which is loud and noticeable. However, that’s just part of how ice makers work, and it’s something you really can’t avoid.

Euhomy IM-FM Review: Features

  • Has self-cleaning feature
  • Add water alert, ice full notification
  • Has a timer

The Euhomy IM-FM carries over the same additional features found in the previous Euhomy IM-FP, which makes sense since these are essential for any modern ice maker. It includes a self-cleaning function that helps you maintain the machine more easily and keep it running efficiently. You also have the notifications to remind when to add more water, or when to remove ice for the ice maker to keep producing new ices.

The Euhomy IM-FM includes a timer feature, although I personally don’t find it necessary. That said, it can be very convenient if you want the ice maker to start producing ice right before you wake up, especially since the ice maker doesn’t store ice for long periods.

Verdict

The Euhomy IM-FM is truly a great budget clear ice maker, which supersedes completely the Euhomy IM-F and Euhomy IM-FP. It’s usually more affordable while offering nearly the same capacity and an improved design.

Still, I recommend the Frigidaire EFIC452-SS, especially since the big brand continues to match Euhomy’s pricing. Frigidaire ice makers are known to last longer, and that’s something you can count on.
