Euhomy IM-01 Review: Trusted Review by Technician in 2025

The Euhomy IM-01, as its name suggests, was the brand’s first attempt to enter the U.S. market. It offered a more affordable option compared to the typical $149 Igloo ICEB33. With the appearance of the latest Euhomy IM-06, the Euhomy IM-01 isn’t a viable option anymore, though you can still get one on Amazon right now in 2025. So, I recommend reading this Euhomy IM-01 review for more information.

In Ice Artisan, I only review the ice makers that I had used or repaired. So I can guarantee that:

  • I give you honest review (both pros and cons) of an ice maker. No hidden deal behind the website.
  • I share my technician’s point of view, so I focus not only on the performance, but also the build of an ice maker.
  • I compile an ice maker ranking list (coming soon) so you can compare all ice makers easily.

Euhomy emerged in 2012 as an American-founded brand specializing in affordable ice makers. Euhomy IM-01 Review: Price

  • Discontinued
  • Can be bought used on Amazon
  • Has a smart version selling at $119

The Euhomy IM-01 is the first Euhomy countertop ice maker in the U.S, so it’s reasonable for it to be discontinued. Instead, the Euhomy IM-18 and Euhomy IM-19 are available to buy in case you need a portable ice maker with front control board.

You can still buy used Euhomy IM-01 at a very cheap price, about $59 at the time of writing. For the price, an used Euhomy IM-01 is similar to a new no-name Chinese countertop ice maker, like this Sweetccrispy countertop ice maker.

To be honest, I don’t really recommend buying used countertop ice maker, because the durability of these small appliances is not that good. Even when the Euhomy IM-01 is sold through Amazon Resale directly, without careful maintenance, your ice maker can break easily in less than 1 year. It’s still worth buying if you clean the ice maker regularly, and follow my ice maker FAQ to troubleshoot.

There is another Euhomy countertop ice maker still being sold in 2025 with product support included, in the name of Euhomy IM-01-AP. This is the smart version of the classic Euhomy IM-01, allowing you to remote control the ice maker via smartphone app.

Euhomy IM-01 Review

I still recommend buying the Frigidaire EFIC123-SS instead, as the Frigidaire countertop ice maker is only $89, has a better durability than the Euhomy IM-01-AP. It is currently the best budget ice maker in 2025, reviewed by an ice maker specialist.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Design

  • Use front control board instead
  • Bigger window lid

Physical dimensions measure 12.6 x 9.5 x 12.6 inches with a weight of 15.8 pounds, making the Euhomy IM-01 relatively compact among 26-pound daily capacity countertop ice maker models. It’s a little bit bigger than the Euhomy IM-06, but not much. It has a stainless steel finish, but it is still made purely of plastic, just like the Frigidaire EFIC121 that I use.

As the first prototype of Euhomy’s portable ice maker line, the Euhomy IM-01 comes in only one color option, designed to mimic the look of stainless steel. The unit looks and feels quite similar to the Frigidaire EFIC117-SS, which isn’t surprising since it’s common for new models to borrow from established designs.

We can see that the newer Euhomy IM-18 shares many features with the earlier Euhomy IM-01, suggesting that the manufacturer likely used the Euhomy IM-01 as a base model for developing later appliances. It’s okay, every small appliance brand does this, not only Euhomy.

However, the Euhomy IM-01 doesn’t have the handle that you can find on the Euhomy IM-19 and IM-18. So to say, it is more like a Frigidaire countertop ice maker that is expected to stay in the kitchen. Personally I don’t want to move my ice maker around, it needs an electric outlet to work after all, so it isn’t a loss for me.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Build

  • Euhomy has decent durability
  • The Euhomy IM-01 has a lot of trouble

Normally, I find Euhomy countertop ice makers to have decent build quality. However, the Euhomy IM-01 is more of a prototype for the brand, and it comes with several issues. The water level sensor, in particular, is quite unreliable. It tends to malfunction quickly and frequently alerts the user to add water, even when the tank is already adequately filled.

My testing unit of the Euhomy IM-01 is still working after several months, but I found many people complaining that the compressor failed often after 1 year. For a budget ice maker, the compressor replacement usually costs as much as the ice maker itself, so the Euhomy IM-01 is basically a dead unit after 1 year.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Performance

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Capacity

  • Produces up to 26 lbs of ice daily
  • Internal storage: 1.3 lbs

The Euhomy IM-01 is a basic countertop ice maker with a 26 pounds of ice production capacity per day. Each production cycle will be exactly 9 bullet ices, and it takes about 6-8 minutes. The Euhomy IM-01 has a quick production cycle, just under 7 minutes for my tests. As a result, the ice making speed of the Euhomy IM-01 is better than many Igloo countertop ice makers, like the Igloo IGLICEB26.

But still, it is just a difference of a few seconds, and I don’t think that it is the selling point of this Euhomy IM-01.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Ice Quality

  • Bullet ice
  • Cloudier than normal Euhomy ices

The Euhomy IM-01 produces hollow, bullet-shaped ice cubes, which are popular for their versatility and quick-chilling ability. Unlike cube ice, bullet ice doesn’t stick together easily, so if you forget to scoop it out right away, it typically stays loose and ready for your next use.

Ice clarity varies significantly depending on water quality and ambient conditions. You can read my article “How to make clear ice in ice maker?”, which can improve your ice quality even in the budget ice maker.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Energy and Water Consumption

  • Normal water and energy consumption

I wrote an article of “How much electricity does an ice maker use?” to give you a free calculator to find out whether you are spending more on your ice maker or not. The Euhomy IM-01 has a rated power of 170W, which is similar to the Euhomy IM-06. For the energy consumption, the Euhomy IM-01 is average, though I find many models of Frigidaire to be a little better.

Water consumption of the Euhomy IM-01 is identical to all other countertop ice makers that is making bullet-shaped ice cubes. It needs about 12 gallons of ice to make 100 pounds of ice, nothing loses in the process. Read my article “Does an ice maker use a lot of water?” for more in-depth explanation.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Noise Level

  • Quiet operation

The Euhomy IM-01 is a countertop ice maker, which tends to be quiet. Operating noise measures approximately 48-50 decibels during standard ice production, comparable to a typical home refrigerator. The compressor generates the primary sound, with additional noise occurring during ice harvest when bullet ice cubes drop into the storage basket.

I asked you to read my article “Do ice makers make a lot of noise?” many times to know why a countertop ice maker like the Euhomy IM-01 won’t make annoying noise in normal conditions. Don’t place the ice maker on hard surfaces, as the vibration can make some sorts of noise.

Euhomy IM-01 Review: Features

  • Lacks self-cleaning feature
  • Add water alert, ice full notification

The Euhomy IM-01 doesn’t have a self-cleaning feature, which isn’t a surprise for us when Euhomy doesn’t include this feature even in the Euhomy IM-06 in 2025. If you feel you really need one (because it’s not everyone use bottled water for the ice maker, you should look for the Frigidaire EFIC117-SS or Igloo ICEB26HN instead.

To make your life easier, the Euhomy IM-01 has notifications to tell you when to add more water, or when you need to remove ices for next ice making batch. Nothing fancy, though I find my testing Euhomy IM-01 to have a faulty water sensor, and it is very incorrect.

There is an Euhomy IM-01-AP, which you can download and install an Euhomy application to remotely control the small appliance. Well, you can grab one in my below link, however I don’t think you should buy this ice maker. Why bother downloading an app for just an ice maker that you can start just by pushing one button, and this is the only button you can use on this appliance. It doesn’t make any sense.

Verdict

As a discontinued product, the Euhomy IM-01 immediately gets a “nope” from me. After all, I don’t think I can find a reviewer who nods at a discontinued product. To be honest, the Euhomy IM-01 has many problems concerning its durability, so even when you can find and buy one on my website, perhaps you should look for something else.

There is the Euhomy IM-01-AP, which makes your smartphone as a remote controller. I don’t feeling installing another application, however, so this feature is not a selling point for me.
